Palette and rebinding

Open it with macOS: ⇧⌘P, Windows and Linux: Ctrl+Shift+P or F1. It lists every command with its category and shortcuts, recently used commands first. Type to filter, Enter to run, Esc to close.

Open document… (macOS: ⌘O, Windows and Linux: Ctrl+O) uses the same list to switch documents. Go to line… (macOS: ⌘G, Windows and Linux: Ctrl+G) jumps to a line.

Settings → Keyboard lists all commands, with a search field and a category filter.

  • + Add records a new shortcut: press the keys. Esc cancels.
  • × removes a shortcut. A command may have none.
  • Reset restores a command’s defaults; Reset all shortcuts restores all.

Rules:

  • A shortcut needs a modifier (⌘, ⌃ or ⌥ on macOS; Ctrl or Alt on Windows / Linux), except F1–F12 and keys for the asset tree.
  • Shortcuts the browser or operating system reserve, such as macOS: ⌘W, Windows and Linux: Ctrl+W everywhere or ⌘Q on macOS, are refused.
  • If another command already uses the shortcut, MDLeaf shows Already used by ’…’ with Reassign (move it) or Cancel. Shortcuts of the editor and of the asset tree do not conflict with each other.

On Windows, the AltGr key is reported as Ctrl+Alt. MDLeaf never takes over a Ctrl+Alt shortcut that types a character on your layout, so you can still type characters like {, [, ą or ż.
